Nathan Andrew, president of The Department of Interiors, has amassed an illustrious body of work during his twenty-five years in the interior design industry.

Nathan’s commitment to high-end residential design and his crème-de-la-crème clientele have led him to dozens of diverse projects. The locations of his work include Manhattan, Greenwich, the Hamptons, Nantucket, Florida, Mustique, Canada and the UK.

His work has been published in various magazines including Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Veranda, Architectural Digest Italy and Hamptons Cottages & Gardens. He is credited for interiors showcased in the coffee table book “Traditional Now: Interiors by David Kleinberg” published by The Monacelli Press. Andrew’s design for the restaurant and lounge Pounds & Ounces (located in Chelsea, NYC) has garnered acclaim from high profile publications including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Bravo TV. The landmark space has been given a hypnotic, sculptural, Art Deco style transformation which BlackBook Magazine called “Both Rock-n-Roll cool and classically beautiful.”

Conceptual, boldly sculpted interiors composed of luxurious materials are the common thread throughout Andrew’s work. His highly edited and controlled approach results in classic, seductive, expressive interiors that often elude words. Andrew’s aesthetic styles range from sleek contemporary to casual beach to modern traditional. His training and practice in both the Classical and Art Deco style have provided him the foundation to curate a stylistically diverse spectrum of homes which embody beauty, comfort, genuine character and authentic acclaim. Typically, Nathan’s interiors reflect his and his client’s passion for artfully mixed antiques and contemporary furnishings. Each project employs Andrew’s countless associations of antiques dealers, galleries, workrooms and artisans to furnish and compose the layered interiors.

Nathan's early training and repertoire are second to none. Most notably, from 2001-2011 he presided as Senior Designer for the prestigious David Kleinberg Design Associates, where he spearheaded a vast array of elite projects and preeminent clientele.

Nathan opened The Department of Interiors in 2011.  Most of the clients and business he cultivated over the previous decade joined his new firm and work with him to this day.  The firm remains focused on high-end residential commissions but unlike large firms, without the layers of design related administration.  The firm enjoys ongoing relationships and design partnerships with some of the most respected architects and contractors.

In addition to decoration, Nathan is celebrated for his custom designed products and furnishings. He is continually commissioned by private individuals, hoteliers, galleries and architects to conceive and produce furnishings of his own or of a collaborative design.

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Design and Management from Parsons School of Design and an Associate of Science in Business from Pennsylvania State University.
